It is with much regret that LAVic has taken the decision to cancel both the 2019/20 State Track & Field Championships, and the 2019/20 State Cross-Country Championships.

June 18, 2020.
The Victorian State Government recently announced a further easing of COVID-19 restrictions from the 22nd June, paving the way for the resumption of children’s sporting competition. LAVic is currently waiting on further detailed advice from Sport & Recreation Victoria on this.
In the meantime, LAVic is pleased to announce that our State Cross-Country Championships will be now be held on Saturday 22nd August at Lake Dewar Lodge, Myrniong. The qualification will be by direct entry, and the event will also include a ‘Virtual State Cross-Country Relay’.
All other details, inclusive of the registration portal, will be released in coming days.
Additionally, the LAVic membership portal will be opening up again soon to accept Cross-Country memberships. Further details on this will also be released shortly.
June 9, 2020.
LAVic continues to make every effort to look at opportunities to hold the State Cross Country Championships. Clearly, major stumbling blocks for this event will be restrictions preventing competition, and rules limiting maximum sizes of outdoor gatherings in the community sport context. Venues and dates are other critical considerations.
Accordingly, LAVic will hold off on making a final decision for now, but will communicate a final position prior to 1st July.

Modified training will soon be a thing at Diamond Valley Little Aths!
LAVic have confirmed that modified training will be allowed but there will be strict requirements for coaches, athletes and spectators.
We are already working behind the scene to make this happen for our athletes.
Until details are finalised and we get the go ahead please, note the following minimum requirements for modified training sessions:
• Physical distancing of 1.5m at all times;
• Training groups of athletes to not exceed 10 (exclusive of coaches);
• A ‘Get in; train; get out’ ethos, to minimise socialising before and after sessions;
• Clubrooms, pavilion, canteen to be closed (toilets, first aid & light switches can be accessed);
• A record of attendees to be taken at every session requiring athletes, parents/carers, coaches, officials etc to sign in;
• Centres to appoint at least one ‘COVID Safety Official’ responsible for ensuring
compliance of sanctioned activities;
• Hygiene protocols for hand sanitisation, coughing & sneezing;
• Equipment disinfection procedures;
• Other additional requirements.

May 12, 2020.
Little Athletics Victoria is currently reviewing the State Government announcements of May 11, 2020 in the expectation and hopes that we are moving closer to a resumption of Little Athletics in the coming months. This is occurring in conjunction with Little Athletics Australia (LAA) and the other State Member Associations.
For the time being, all competition (including ‘virtual’ competitions organised by a Centre, Club or coach etc.), coaching and training related Little Athletics activities remain suspended and uninsured.
The other piece of work for consideration is the Australian Institute of Sport’s ‘AIS Framework for Rebooting Sport’ released on 4th May. This document sets out a 3-step process for the return of athletics to full competition. Together, the State Government plans to ease restrictions, the AIS framework and national guidance from LAA will form the basis of decisions made to effect a measured, full and safe return to play.
Following on from this, the resumption of Little Athletics training and competition activities will, in all likelihood, occur with separate timeframes and under some form of restriction.
Little Athletics Victoria will continue to keep members updated as to when Little Athletics may return.
As such, all Diamond Valley Little Athletics Centre or Club events can no longer occur as planned.

LAVic have made the decision to cancel the following 2019-20 Cross Country season activities:
> Centre Cross Country activities, including Open Days
> Cross Country Relay Championships (30-May-2020)
> Region Cross Country Carnivals (20-Jun-2020)
> Sandown Road Relays (11-Jul-2020)
A decision will be made by 31-May-2020 about whether the State Cross Country Championships (01-Aug-2020) will proceed on that date, if at all.
We are continuing to monitor the situation, following direction from Little Athletics Victoria and the Victorian and Federal Governments.
We will keep you updated should things change.
Please stay safe and look after each other.
